In conjunction with Road Safety Week, South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne is encouraging motorists to cut out speeding and help save lives.
Running from 20th to 26th November, Road Safety Week 2017 aims to get motorists to Speed Down, Save Lives. Breaking the speed limit or travelling too fast for conditions is recorded by police at crash scenes as a contributory factor in one in four (23%) fatal crashes in Great Britain.
Mr Dunne said: “Rural roads can be unpredictable, and conditions can vary greatly, so respecting the speed limit is an important way of reducing the chance for accidents and collisions. Speed is a key measure for determining braking distance, and the force of impact in a collision, so reducing our speed helps reduce risk.
This Road Safety Week, I encourage motorists across South Shropshire to Speed Down, Saves Lives.”
